Swollen Lymph Node

Enlarged lymph node

C’est quoi

A swollen lymph node may appear as a lump under the skin that is larger than usual. Lymph nodes may enlarge when the body is fighting an infection. They act as small filters that help clean lymph, a fluid found throughout the body.

What you can do at home

What to do

Apply cold

  • Apply cold for 15 to 20 minutes every 2 to 3 hours.
  • Use a cold compress, ice pack, bag of frozen vegetables, or reusable cold pack.
  • Always place a cloth between the skin and the cold source to protect the skin.
What to avoid
  • Do not pinch or press the swollen lymph node.
